Importing your data from Jira

If you currently store your requirements as Jira issues, follow these steps to import them into rmCloud.

Importing Business and Software requirements

Export from Jira

1. (optional) In Jira, link your requirements.  This can also be done later within rmCloud.

   1. In each Software requirement that you'd like to link to a business requirement, create an issue link "relates to" for the related business requirement: 

      Open

      

2. From the main Jira navigation, choose Issues → Search for issues. Create a search that will return all of your software requirements.

3. Click the export icon:  

   Open

   

   1. Make sure to choose Export Excel CSV (all fields)

   2. At the very least, your CSV needs the columns Summary, Description, and Issue key.  Optional is one or more Outward issue link (Relates) columns.

4. Repeat steps 2-3, but this time search Jira for all of your business requirements

Import into rmCloud

Import Software requirements

1. Make sure your CSV has required columns Summary and Description. (The actual rows for Description are optional)

2. Inside rmCloud, choose your project from the dropdown.

3. Navigate to the Requirements tab.

4. Click the Import issues button.

5. Choose Software requirements from the dropdown.

6. Click the Choose File button and select your exported Software requirements

7. Wait for the green check mark to the right of the filename.

   1. If you get a red "x", double-check that you are importing a CSV file.  If you still have issues, contact support and we'll get it sorted out.

8. Click Import. This can take a while.  If you don't immediately get an error message, it is importing.

Import Business requirements

1. Follow the steps for Import Software requirements, but this time use the CSV of business requirements that you exported previously.
